The Price of Gas!

It's damn insanity. When I first got a car it was $1.20 a gallon, now that was like 13 years ago. Flash forward to today, and I fill up for $3.50 a gallon and rising every day.

Who's benefiting from all this, as it's definitely not the consumer? How do we as consumer's fight agains the rising oil prices?

Well, I have a little theory that we'll soon enough be rolling back into caves (with our Apple laptops of course) in order to escape the insanity of corrupt political systems, and unscrupulous titan corporations (yes, Oil & Gas etc.) who will continue to rape and pillage the consumer (us) until we are begging in lines for bread like our ancestors did back in the 1920's. For, now, we must make purchasing decisions as an educated group and live in cool little eco villages with solar energy and fresh water from the earth. OK, not really that simple but, we really have to get involved with our legislatures and kick their asses since we are paying them.

And they're saying on the news that it's projected to reach $4.00 in the next few months! YIKES!!!

Personally I have not driven since 2000 because I quit driving when I moved to Portland & discovered the wonderful public transit system. Now that I am back in Austin I think daily about getting a car because it's just so damn hard to get around here. Then I look at gas prices & think again! I can't believe how much of our budget goes into gas for my fiance's car... even with me willing to bus, bike, or walk 90% of the time!

I really think that gas prices will just continue to rise until more people are willing to give up driving more. If more of us used alternative means of transportation I really do think it would help. Right now they know damn well that they have us right where they want us. I have friends who have given up smoking because they said they had to find a way to cut their budgets & giving up driving wasn't an option!
