Gas Prices

I'm getting ready for a trip home to visit my parents. They are planning on sending me home with a car to drive back to Texas. I think it's crazy that it cost more for me to drive than fly. I don't understand why the gas prices are soooo high. I have heard lots of so called reasons. I just find it upsetting that the gasoline industry has had record breaking profits for the last three years.  In the mean time it cost $48 bucks to fill up my Celica. We are all getting screwed !!!!!

Why can't we come together as a nation and just say FU. We are not taking it anymore. I know several different groups have tried to organize a don't get gas on this day event. the gas company just raised it the next day to make up for the losses. If we really want them to understand how about we come together as a nation and not stop  buying gas for a day. My taking 3-4 days maybe even a week. That will cost then Millions.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

it IS insane, and our complete lack of organization in this country keeps us from doing anything organized about it!

I think we should build up bitchy betty, get more people (like our neighbors, coworkers, moms) in order to read bitches like this.... then take action as a Bitchy Betty Nation!!  :)  I think a National Boycott could actually work... show them how much they need us... then only go to those gas station to buy gas that have agreed to lower the price to a resonable level... let's say $2.75 ... I'd be happy with that!

Last week a gas station out in Cedar Park lowered gas prices to 2-something for one day only. Cars lined up for blocks. Apparently some even ran out of gas while waiting in line! We decided it was not worth the gas we would waste to drive all the way over there & sit in the damn line!

I'm all for a boycott, but then again I also take the bus everywhere & live about 1 mile from work & 3 miles from my son's school. My school is on the opposite side of town, but it's only one bus from my house, so that's not too bad either. I really feel for all these people in & around Austin who live on one side of town & work on the other & HAVE to drive every day. I can't imagine how much money they're blowing on gas!
