Why should I have to carry a gun?
Why can't I trust the police department to keep me safe?
Once again, they have let a dangerous criminal walk the streets. A person with a record. Someone with an attempted murder charge that he served time for......and he came out of prison and started a whole new crime spree directed at women.
The women he has chosen to abuse-girlfriends and friends of girlfriends.
I am armed. I have been for years. But now I feel that I HAVE to be. It is no longer a choice but a HAVE TO. How does it feel when you can no longer trust the police department an the legal system? It feels like this- a knife in my back pocket, 2 in my purse, one in my back pack , an a gun in my boot.

Oh, ladies- don't panic. His status has not changed. 'nuff said.

Jeezuz Christ, girl... I'm glad you added that little comment there. I was about to panic!
And yeah, for the first time in years I am contemplating owning a gun again. I hate that I have to feel this way. I really wish someone would do their damn job.

I wonder, and this is just a question.
During the times of public hangings, were there less crimes being committed? I wonder if anyone has done a study on this.
Again, I am not suggesting this, just throwing the question out there.

I haven't lived in places that I felt were dangerous. I'm a Texas gal that learned to shoot a gun at an early age in case we ran across a snake or nasty critter when we were spending summers in the country with relatives.
I was give my 1st swithblade when I was 12 because, Hell Yeah, the world IS a scary place and I liked to walk around our neighborhood. As I grew older, I spent a lot of time inner city and went out alone to meet friends. I was mugged sitting outside an after hours beer joint, waiting for a friend to pick up beer. The guy held a .45 to my head.
You have to realize that crime occurs in the best neighborhoods too- not just the ghetto. We recently had a string of armed robberys on the U.T campus. I live in a tiny, quiet town just outside of Austin where 5 houses were broken into in a week back in January.
I carry so many weapons now because a friend of mine was murdered recently and the suspect is a nutcase who has hurt every woman he has ever dated and most that he has been friends with. Unfortunately, he knows me.

Aronado~ You hit the mark on that one. I have suggested for years that public executions, and racks in the town square be brought back. Prisons do NOTHING to deter crime, and the police are there only to manage it, not fix it.
If people were TRULY afraid of the consequences of their actions, there wouldn't be so much crime. But they are not. They know it's a roof over their head, meals, cable TV and weight room and public defender should they ever get the idea to sue the state.
I'd be VERY curious to see what effect public executions would have on the world as we know it.

Totally agree. It's clearly shown that the consequence of prison does nothing to deter crime - look at all of the over crowded jails! Besides which, how many of inmates would be a positive contribution to society once/if they got out? Im not sayin it DOESN'T happen, but chances are...and yet here we are, payin taxes so these fks can sit back and do fk all for the rest of their lives while we're out bustin out balls/backs and can barely live comfortably. Need I mention public safety? So many of these douches are let out early into halfway houses that they take off from and never come back...then you see the headlines a couple months later on how he killed their ex/commited some other heinous crime. How many people have to die before they themselves die? Throw them in an active volcano already!

If you depend on the police to protect you, you're asking for trouble. I tried that and ended up with permanent brain damage after being beaten in the head. Cops showed up 10 minutes later.
Be prepared or be a victim. At least carry Mace brand pepper foam. The foam is better than the spray because it's thick and doesn't blow around.
