"Going Green" Fad

Let me start with saying that "going green" is great. I've done my best to live as green as possible given my specific enviornment and situation ever since I joined the girlscouts when I was 5. Going Green is NOT the problem I'm bitching about.

 

PEOPLE who wear "go green" shirts while driving their hummer, that is the problem I'm bitching about.

The fact that something so important has become such a huge fad has made me crazy.  

No good every really comes from fads. Sure, we may save some trees now, which is definitely better than not saving them, but when the fad fades... as all fads do, then what?

Fads that are SUPER cool today, have a way of becoming super LAME tomorrow.

 All the tv shows that are shouting "go green" and have all their advertisements for "green" products, while using entirely too much fuel oil to run their company... well, that's a problem.

 

Celebrities spouting all these facts about the greenhouse effect and saving rain forests and turning off the faucet when you brush your teeth... piss me off b/c the next day you see them on TMZ throwing out their empty bottle of Evian, smoking, and getting into and then driving their Cadilac Escilade.

How many of those celebrities or public speakers have their own compost pile in their yard? How many ride their bike to get their Venti Non Fat Chai Latte?  How many actually install the solar panels in their homes?

NOT ENOUGH.

and when the fad fades, and the celebrities have found a new cause to be all excited about, our children's children will suffer.

If you want to save the planet, then go ahead and DO it. Don't just preach about it. Actions speak louder than words.
