SPCA and PETCETERA

For the longest while, I was blown away as to how the pet store chain " Petcetera" could operate with their cage sizes and living environments way below the humane standards outlined by the SPCA. Surely, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals would jump at the chance for a big media publication bringing down a huge pet store chain for the atrocities commited against these poor small animals and birds. Im talking SWATHES of budgies crammed into small enclosures, rabbits that can barely make two hops in their dusty, hot, fluorescently blazed cages, and guinea pigs so traumatized that you couldn't hold them for seconds without them bolting into mid air. Don't even get me started on the state of the escaped hamsters found later in mouse traps, hidden in the corners of the warehouse style stores. How could this be going on? Simply put, Petcetera gives a chunk of funding to them every year. Not to say this is a straight pay off for the SPCA to turn a blind eye, it DOES go to supporting animals in need - BUT, how can the SPCA accept funding from a company that BLATENTLY ABUSES ANIMALS??? It's not like Petcetera doesn't make enough money to implement nice living environment for these animals, theyre just too cheap...I suppose thats how they became so rich. Fckers!
