All I need is $35 F'n Dollars to Expose Enviro Oversight
I've already raised $215 dollars. Well, $200 actually, I put in the last 15 myself.
But I'm still $35 shy of reaching our goal of $250.
What happens at $250? A seasoned reporter is going to do an investigation into an important and overlookedenvironmental story.
"California’s biofuels usage is expected to jump nearly 600 million gallons over the next couple of years, but the ethanol supply is already stretched to its limits. Almost all of California’s ethanol runs through a single terminal. If there were a disruption at that terminal—via accident or intent—the state’s gasoline infrastructure could grind to a halt. And even with that terminal, there are serious questions about whether the terminal could meet demands."
The reporter is just looking to make sure he can recoop money that is lost while reporting on this story. I think it's an important story - so just three $10 donations and one $5 donation will make it possible.
Donate to journalism and the environment in one fell swoop.

Pitches
I love what you guys are doing! just joined, thanks for sharing the info.
Q:
What are some other alternatives besides ethanol? and how is progress coming along with those alternatives?

you are paying a reporter to cover the story? There is something wrong with that, no matter how it is framed. If the story was something the reporter wanted to do, money wouldn't be an object. I think you are getting the run around. Good luck though!

well, I think it's an interesting concept, and I try to give new ideas the benefit of the doubt.

The story is something the reporter wants to do. In fact, he is going to dedicate himself to the story for at least 2 weeks.
$250 is nothing for a reporter to work on a story. That is barely a travel budget for him to go down to the ethanol plant. In fact, I think that's why he is asking for the money - just to recoop gas and food money while he is reporting.
It's def. not the run around, it's part of a nonprofit that I'm starting: spot.us

So...this is a free lance reporter? After covering the atory he will be able to sell the story and put back into your cause? Thats a pretty cool idea. Good luck!!
You have given me an idea.....
Thanx!
