Pitches

yeah, it's tough moving to a new area for sure.  I went through this several years ago and it really sucked for the first years or so.  Do you have any hobbies at all?  I was able to join the local Team In Training group and actually met some really down to earth, fun loving people.  Sometimes we have to "hunt down" the people we want to become friends with...good luck to you loriloo ;=}

Yeah, Texans are known for hospitality, but that does have it's downside.  For instance, Austin has been taken over by the Californians.  Why?  Cause we were nice to 'em when they came, we were nice to the first ones that moved here, then more came.  Then more. Then more. Go ahead.  Next time you're in Austin, spend a day asking each person you meet where they came from.  MOST of them will be from out of state "We just moved here" and the majority will be from California.  We ain't hatin.  We're just sayin.

Then suddenly the city was too big and everyone wanted to change our rules/way of life:

>NO SMOKING IN NIGHT CLUBS< ???

>CONDOS ON EVERY STREET CORNER<

>LET'S DEVELOP ALL THE COOL GREENBELT AREAS SO THERE'S NO MORE TREES/GREENBELT IN THE CITY TO ENJOY<

ummm I thought y'all liked Austin cause we're the live music capitol of the world, cause we're laid back and live and let live, cause we have pretty green grass and trees everywhere.  Guess all that stuff wasn't REALLY that important.  Perhaps they all wanted to feel the comforts of home.

SO~ in conclusion, I'm not trying to make excuses for rude people, but I also understand LOVING your state, and watching it change into something it's not due to the influx of newcomers.  Pretty soon, everyone becomes THEY, and they all get hated on for screwin up your town.

I moved out of Austin to a smaller community so I wouldn't have to mourn the loss of my beautiful city every single day.  Guess what?  Now they're moving out here as well.  It's never ending.

I know how you feel. Try being southern girl in New York. With a few exceptions--very few--the people were so rude & my son's school secretary even had the nerve to tell him in front of me that he did not have to say "mam" that it was a silly southen thing. I thought I was going to go through the roof. What was worse, I didn't fit in with all the party animals at military housing either who were too busy getting sh*tfaced all the time to care what their own kids were doing. That place was my hell on earth. Divorce is looking really good if it keeps me from having to go back there again. I grew up in NC but small community and everyone was friendly & hospitable like they are here in TX so I still feel at home here. Heck! I've wanted to live in southwest ever since I can remember talking--my parents will tell you so as well. When we came back here, soon as we walked into local Walmart, the greeter at the door remembered us giving us hugs and a lady from the church I went to before saw us in restaurant & did the same.

Same as Bitchass...I hate all the growth & stuff building up all over the place. I grew up in the county & couldn't wait to get out so I could see more & do more. Well, now I am ready to move back to the country but unfortunately married to a city slicker from Boston. I couldn't wait to get away from NY & half the darn people in our new development are from NY. We have punk ass kids passing through our front yard rather than use the sidewalk to go back/forth to their own development, ripping peppers out of my ristra & throwing all over the place, breaking my bushes & dumping my flower seed pots out into the field. Let's don't forget all the child sex offenders registered in our area and kids all over the place with parents not having a clue where they are. I ofen find myself sounding like the country song I miss back when".
