GOOGLE's "LIVELY" is a PORN Playground and I'm Royally Pissed!

There's a link to a really well written article by Mark 'Rizzn' Hopkins on a story about documentation on the teenage sex that goes on inside Google's virtual world LIVELY.

It's funny but this story is written by Pixeleen Mistral of the Second Life Herald. And for those of you that don't know, Second Life and Lively are 3D virtual worlds so in effect they are almost like competitors.

Second Life was lambasted and still is for the copious amounts of porn, BSDM and even pedophile activities that occur inside their virtual world so for Pixeleen Mistral to be writing about underage sex in Livley, seems kind of funny. Of course it's not to say that they condone it, it's just funny that they too are picking on Lively. Anyway..... ....

This is YET AGAIN how technology and the internet is making is feasible for idiots to run amuck. Even if you would never behave or admit to anything disgusting in public, you certainly can BE ANYTHING you want to be on the Internet.

I hate how technology brings out the worst of the worst in our society and their anonymity behind false names, avatars etc .. makes it easier for people to pounce.

Children are children and human nature is human nature. Thanks to commercial and TV shows, a young child is more likely to be aware of ACTS that take place without really having the maturity to understand the moral implications.

As adults and parents, it's a monumental task almost to ensure the safety of our children and those that are naiive.

I am so disgusted at Google for not even thinking ahead on what certain *negative* aspects, their Lively 3D virtual world could be used for.

How completely stupid. They have no rules of conduct or a Real Terms of Service that outlines rules of conduct. They don't have any filters in place to prevent illegal underage acts and actually, they've allowed their platform to be come the RED LIGHT district of Web Browser enabled Virtual Worlds.

In Second Life they have two grids or sections. One for adults and one for teenagers. The Teenage access to Second Life has very strict guidelines. The Adult access to Second Life also has very strict guidelines and they have now implemented an AGE Verification process.

The news of underage sex happening in Second LIfe's adult section was because a teenage girl logged on and lied about her age. One even used her mother's I.D. She was 16 I believe.

I'm not against sex. I'm not against puberty and all the things that can run through someones head while in that stage .. but I am against Companies that do not ensure minimizing risk factors, especially if you are a BIG company like Google that practically has the monopoly on Internet Technology. How can you NOT look ahead and develop your platform responsibly.

SHAME ON YOU GOOGLE! I'm now going to use Cuil! :oP

You know, my wife and I spent some time in Second Life, we flew around, had a date, crashed some parites, and jumped in someones hot tub. It was a pretty neat experience. But, we quickly learned that there are many sickos's in that place. Not everyone!! But, after a while we were like F this, and left. I am sure we'll try it again with groups that we know but, it's definitely a place for sickos to lurk and do things they normally wouldn't or couldn't do in REAL life.

Hell, if "leaders" like Google won't plan and budget for creating protections than who else will? It would be wise for them to develop or invest in system/software that can be used across platforms and focus on protections for Internet users worldwide.
