When Did It Get So Out Of Hand?
I'm seriously worried about the future. Not for me. I hope to croak by the time I'm 60. If I'm not dead yet then I'm definitely jumping off a bridge.
Honestly, I think the world sucks. Despite all the amazing people I meet wherever I go, I've started to somewhat loose hope that we'll actually be able to make a difference.
The stakes are too high and mankind has gotten itself into such a deep hole pile high with shit that I really don't see us getting out of it.
Pessimistic you say? HA!
I'm one of the most optimistic and positive people you'll every meet.
It's just that with age and from observing the patterns of mankind who has refused to learn from history or is so blind to the laws of nature , well, I've gotten rather cynical of late.
All for a good reason too. Here are just a few.
Teachers, healthcare workers and anyone that basically has a job involving the support of human nurturing and development get paid like - SHIT.
Mother's should be paid more than any uneducated, ugly ass, "my pants are barely hanging off my hips Hip Hop Dude or Dudette".
Society's values are so upside down and fucked up I alsmost want to kill myself over and over again just to try to make a statement.
I don't understand why athletes get paid millions (and I don't give a hoot if they are talented) when there is a food, education and health care crises going on in the world.
Rockstars, actors/actresses (haven't I bitched about this already), athletes get paid ridiculous amounts of money and all for what? For promoting that in society which is truly NON-Essential to our existence.
And the ads! Why do we place so much value on advertising? It's all just highly evolved brainwashing. I should know. I use to work in advertising.
What's that price? $4 million a minute for an ad during the Superbowl. What are you crazy? Give some of that money to get clean water to those that need it?
And clean water? There are corporations that are outsourcing their manufacturing to poorly developed countries NOT to help develop them but to STEAL their ONLY water supply to make poision drinks - i.e. Coca Cola!!!
And OIL!?
When did we get so dependent on OIL? Why didn't anyone ever think about the crises we are experiencing now - like 50 years ago? 20 years ago?
I KNOW there were warnings. I KNOW there were intelligent people that wrote and spoke about this very issue that we are encountering now .. but instead of our governments working on it, they'd rather spend billions on weapons and finding a viable planet to inhabit? Why?
We have no respect for humanity. We develop tools that kill and now we want to find a planet to live on so that we can destroy that too? WTF?!
And why are we so quick to kill just because someone doesn't agree with what we want?
What if our wants are all wrong? Then what? What if for some reason, we've been lead to value and place importance on things that really are to our detriment?
What if the POWERS that be have a hidden agenda that want us to self-destroy ourselves? What if? I am taking a while guess that THAT really is the case.
Call me crazy, that's nothing new. If I have gotten crazy over the years it's probably because I really cannot make sense of the world right now.
The world is such a hypocritical place. It's got such a hypocritical energy field.
I was watching the 2008 Olympic Opening on Ustream and I mentioned in the chat ....
"Hi. Does anyone feel sort of weird watching this LIVE from the comfort of our own homes, thanks to technology, when Darfur is happening? When people do not have water to drink? When something like a computer or a television is so alien and not in their reality? I do. I feel really strange."
Someone in the chat agreed. Quite a few agreed. Then someone said that they read that "it's best to just enjoy the games as they are and not let anything else bring it down."
I then uttered, "That's like ignoring that there's a HUGE PINK ELEPHANT in the room!"
They agreed.
Someone commented that the PINK ELEPHANT should be shot. We all "Lol'd".
I laughed but only in chat.
The rest of my human'ess was actually crying.
WHY? Why is it like this? Why it is easy for us to ignore that wretchedness that is out there, just because we are not directly affected?
If we think we can continue doing this - ignoring the PINK ELEPHANT in the room, then we're definitely a sad lot of people.
And that makes me even sadder.
Come on everyone. We're so much better than this.
Let's all come together. Let's all detox first so that we can be as CLEAN on the inside before getting ready to CLEAN up the mess that we as ONE helped to create.
We need to walk the talk and stop talking, blogging, chatting and twittering.
Let's SO SOMETHING ALREADY DAMMIT!
Pitches

"Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Anyone familiar?
I need more coffee before I say more. Coffee and smokes are my vices and I'm not ashamed to admit it. ;-)

Atlas Shrugged? Sounds vaguely familiar. I'm going to look it up.
I believe it's okay to have vices, as long as we are aware of them. It's not our individual vices that are very bad - but the collective vices that we as a human species continue to propagateis.
Coffee, smoking .. it's all relative. They are and they are not.
What is, IS the dire need for the earth and mankind to heal. That is what we need.
Maybe we need to heal ourselves first .. then so be it. We can all help one another in the process.
I can't wait to read your thoughts after you get all caffeined up!

You have touched on so many points! I don't know where to begin.....I guess at the end and work my way up.
This may be a 2 part pitch.3 part maybe? :-)
By blogging, talking, chatting, and twittering, I think that we are taking the 1st step in bringing attention to that pink elephant in the room. Forming a group with the same interests- a group that will band together and take action- has to start somewhere, be it in a college class room, coffee house, or chat room.
I don't think that everyone is ignoring the Pink Beastie. Sadly, I think that a lot of people are uniformed. Perhas that boils down to poor education? Lack of interest because of a poor education? Ignorance?
Sure- plenty of people do ignore what does not directly affect them. Thats the way some people are built. Others are so deeply affected that they have given up. Wel- thats my take, any way. My ex-husband asked me why I was so involved in an issue once since it did not directly affect me.( He also called me a communist, tree hugging, lefty pig for not supporting the war) There ya' go.
I'll be back!
