taking advantage of the young and inexperienced

so my step-daughter is in process of buying her first car and completed all necessary steps by herself (as we had agreed) and thus I was prepared to co-sign on the deal to get her past the "you have NO credit" hurdle. Easy enough. She'd saved her money, held a job and place for a while, she'd earned it.

To make a long story short, the salesman and financier lied to her about the whole deal just to get a sale. They told her she would qualify as long as she had a co-signer, but the minute I go up to co-sign the papers they're telling me to sign the blank for the primary or she won't get the car at all. Turns out, they sold ME a car on MY credit, took my daughters $2,500 cash down payment, then told her she didn't "qualify" for THAT car, and gave her a cheaper (albeit brand new) one to drive home. Classic bait and switch, then fudging the contracts to actually make it MY car just to make the sale. BASTARDS!

What really gets me is that they tried to lie even when I caught them. They told me "no really, that's the blank for the co-signer, the printer just made a type-o, you will be the co-signer." BULLSHIT I informed them I review and write government contracts all day long, so tell me again which line is for the co-signer???

It's so obvious that this was done simply because they thought they could get one over on us. They lied to the WRONG BITCH THIS TIME!!!

They tried to summarize each page to me verbally while we were signing > THAT IS A BIG RED FLAG. I informed them I cannot read while people are talking, so kindly shut up. If someone interrupts you while your reading a contract to sign, ask them why. Chances are, they'e trying to distract you.

My daughter has learned alot from this experience, and thankfully is not terribly discouraged. But DAMN y'all. WHY do people have to try and be shady just cause they think they can get away with it if a youngster is involved?
